This is going to be one, long post, because since I have this blog set up to only show the three latest posts, it would be way too confusing to have to figure out what to click to follow this story, so here we go:
Because of the popularity of the Drink-Man strips I post in the DVD Talk forum, I was nominated for President of Otterville. What and where is Otterville, you ask? DVD Talk has many subforums to cover different subjects, like Music, Movies, TV, etc. And for subjects not really relating to anything in particular, the creators of the site made Other, for people to hang out and discuss pretty much anything under the sun. From what I understand, since I haven't been a member since the VERY beginning, someone mentioned one time that when they saw the words "Other Forum", they thought it said "Otter Farm", and the name became a running joke ever since. Eventually, users who frequented and posted in Other the most began referring to each other as "Otters". A few years ago, "Otterville" was coined, and they started holding mock elections to choose a president of this place of gathering. Well, this year I became well-known enough in the circle of Otters to be nominated for this relatively-useless, but fun-all-the-same title. Since I was named because of the Drink-Man strips, I felt obligated to use them as part of my "campaign". Keep in mind that in the strips, I'm the male rabbit character, and my user name on DVD Talk is "The Infidel":
Geoff is the founder of DVD Talk, by the way.
My friend from the forum, "Kittydreamer", who was also nominated, wanted to be my running mate, so I made several strips including her.
Someone even suggested nominating Drink-Man:
At this point, we found out that whoever made it to the next round of voting had to choose vice-presidents, and they couldn't be fellow presidential nominees. So, it was time to campaign on my own:
I chose for my new running mate another friend in the forum, "La Bella Rose":
As referenced in the above strip, there was a certain candidate whose act was that he didn't want to even be in the election, and wanted the moderators to just do away with the election altogether. Some other users jumped on the bandwagon, and they succeeded in ruining it for everyone. Things started getting a little personal, the fun disappeared, and the election was subsequently shut down. I did manage to get in this last campaign strip before the lock:
